Preparing for my first day in the field

Today is exactly one week from my first day in the field! I am so excited to be joining Mrs. Adams and her grade 4’s at St. Theresa school in Regina! I am full of a healthy mix of nerves and excitement and I just can’t wait to meet all of these wonderful people.

Today I am planning and prepping for my first day. I have a to do list and a million ideas swirling around in my mind! The focus of my first lesson is to be an introduction to the students that will be in my class so that we can begin to build a relationship. I want to create an experience that will let them know a little bit about me and give me a chance to see a little about them as well! A short lesson feels so short when you are hoping to create the beginning of a connection, but my goal will be just to set a tone of acceptance, fun and safety.

Most of all I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to learn and grow as a future educator! I believe teaching is a truly special space that will both challenge me and fill me with purpose. There is sure to be many twists and turns in the road ahead but I am ready to embrace it all! 20170709_153104(1)
